REPORTS TO: Maintenance Director
JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Director in planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the maintenance program and services, grounds maintenance, and upkeep of the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Help with plumbing, painting, carpentry, mechanical, heating, cooling, water systems and minor electrical issues around the building.
- Help Contractors around the building complete projects inside the building and on the outside grounds of the facility.
- Helps in repairing minor electrical malfunctions and installing new equipment
- Helps assist in minor plumbing issues around the building or work with contractor if project is to large.
- Helps assist in minor carpenter work around the building including the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures and furniture.
- May operate hand saw, planer, joiner, shaper, table saw, sanding machine, router, electric drill, and other power equipment
- Ensure that high standards of safety are developed, met, and maintained at the facility
- Helps the Maintenance Director in the facility and ground maintenance in accordance with relevant regulations, agency standards, and fiscal consideration
- Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
- Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times
- Understand and adhere to the Caraday Healthcare maintenance program
- Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- General maintenance facility experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with oral and written instructions in English
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet based maintenance programs
Preferred
- Prior long term care experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned; including some weekends, holidays and evenings. Possible on call hours can be scheduled.
