What are the responsibilities and job description for the One to One - Teaching Aide position at TLC - The Treatment and Learning Centers, Inc.?
The Katherine Thomas School's high school program in Rockville, MD is seeking to hire a one-to-one Teaching Aide to work with a female student with complicated issues. The school serves students with language and learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments that affect their learning. We address the individual needs of each student to facilitate success at home, school, and in the community. Work hours are 7:30 am to 3:15 pm M - F. This is a full-time position.
Rate of Pay: $20-$25 per hour
Responsibilities of the one-to-one Teaching Aide include:
- Must be able to assist with bathroom duties including maintenance of urostomy pouch
- Must be comfortable working with a student who is selectively mute
- Support the student with academics, regulation, and behavior in and out of the classroom
- Implement and strictly follow the student's Behavior Plan
- Assist and monitor the student under the Special Education Teacher's supervision and direction
Required experience/training for the One to One:
- Must be CMT certified or willing to be certified (TLC will cover the cost for certification)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
- Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful
- Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
