Immediate Opportunity! The Katherine Thomas School Program serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an opportunity for a full-time Special Education Elementary School Teaching Assistants (TA) beginning with the current school year. Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:
- Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
- Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules
- Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
- Create a supportive learning environment
- Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
- Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
Experience and Skills:
Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:
- MUST have a Bachelors Degree
- Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
- Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful
- Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
