Job Description

The Katherine Thomas School Program serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has a few opportunities for full-time Special Education Elementary and Middle School Teaching Assistants (TA) beginning with the 2025/2026 school year. Hourly Rate of $19 - $24/hour, DOE

Teaching Assistant Position Responsibilities Include

• Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
• Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teachers instruction and school/program rules
• Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
• Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
  
  

Required Experience

Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:

• MUST have a Bachelors Degree
• Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
• Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful
• Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
