About the Role:
The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, policies, and communication to ensure a safe work environment on project sites. The Safety Manager will report to the Vice President of Montante Construction and will also support safety initiatives for Montante Solar and TM Montante Development. Responsibilities include;
Safety Management
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert (SME) for all safety-related inquiries and concerns.
- Conduct weekly site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. Document and communicate findings to project teams and VP.
- Ensure all job site locations are current with site required safety matters, including signage, processes, PPE, and documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to address safety concerns and develop safety plans for new projects. This includes assisting project teams with writing job-hazard analysis (JHA) or project specific safety plans. In addition, reviewing and ensuring the implementation of site-specific safety plans.
- Manage the accident reporting and return to work processes, coordinating with human resources on leave management, insurance brokers and external representatives such as customers, owner’s representatives, or construction managers.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Document and communicate findings to project teams and VP.
- Present debrief action plans to project teams and use information to inform general training plans.
Stay current with industry safety trends, regulations, and best practices.
Safety Committee & Training Management
Lead and manage the Montante Safety Committee’s bi-monthly meetings and plan and implement all team safety training.Data Management, Reporting, and Recordkeeping
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and recommend improvements as needed. Maintain and update company safety documentation, including safety manuals, injury reports and related documentation, OSHA records, boilerplate reports.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry, electrical safety experience a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or similar (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective solutions.
- Professional and thorough verbal and written communication with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization both interpersonally and in group settings.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to travel to all work site locations on a regular and consistent basis.
