Job Description
ResponsibilitiesTMC Bonham Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital, offers primary care and specialty physicians. The Critical Access Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services, along with 24-hour emergency services. Our goal is quality healthcare and patient safety.
POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves performing laboratory testing procedures, including blood specimen collection, result validation, quality control analysis, record-keeping, and equipment maintenance. Interpretation and troubleshooting of patient results are also key responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform all required testing in various clinical laboratory sections according to policy and procedures.
- Document results of quality control and maintenance, taking necessary corrective action as prescribed by written policy.
- Collect specimens, process them, and prepare them for testing or referral as per written policy.
- Assist physicians and other hospital personnel with interpreting test results.
- Order and take outpatient orders.
- Ensure a clean work area and adequate supplies (restocking of inventory).
- Perform problem-solving and troubleshooting as outlined by lab policy.
Qualifications:
- Meets licensure requirements.
- Holds an Associate Degree from an approved Medical Technology program.
- Is ASCP certified as MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) or has equivalent certifications like AMT, CLS, HEW.
- Can read, write, and learn a computer system.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups.
- Possesses good verbal communication and listening skills.
- Shows commitment to team operation with customer service spirit.
