TMC Transportation has an immediate opening for a Service Writer working out of our Des Moines, IA shop.
PRIMARY FUNCTION :
Manages the scheduling and planning of all maintenance through the AHI internal Maintenance departments by performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
Schedules tractors and trailers for service and repairs based on date of last service, urgency of repairs, delivery requirements, driver requirements, and operations request.
Communicates regularly and consistently with Customer Service Representatives, Fleet Managers, Drivers, Shop Management and Road Repairs to determine needed repairs and establish a service schedule in advance of arrival of the equipment.
Works directly with shop management to verify availability of facilities.
Reviews and closes repair orders based on procedures provided by the service manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma with relevant work experience required.
Strong computer knowledge with Microsoft Office products.
Strong mechanical back ground is a plus
Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail, problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels company personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT : The physical requirements and work environment described are representative of those present while performing the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to sit and use telephone and computer, simultaneously, for extended periods of time.
Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a high volume telephone environment.
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
