Position Purpose:
Performs highly advanced (executive-level) and supervisory work. Provides physician leadership and quality oversight for the task order or project. Works independently with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides executive leadership and oversees their productivity, production, and decisions.
- Oversees, directs and monitors quality and continuous improvement of the quality assurance program.
- Collaborates with the surgeon general leadership to ensure proper application of medical standards.
- States the standards and determines if enough information is present to recommend approval of a case within acceptable levels of risk.
- Assists other contract providers in medical determination decisions when necessary and only elevates cases for military coordination when a disqualification is strongly considered.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited medical school
License and Certification
- Active State license to practice medicine
- Board certification
Experience
- Ten (10) years clinical
- Five (5) years demonstrated and progressively responsible medical managerial or leadership role
- Flight Surgeon or physician with extensive experience in Aerospace Medicine (per contract requirement)
- No federal or state sanctions as would appear on reporting from the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB)
- Currently have or have had direct patient care within the last three years
- Possess a strong understanding of the relevant DOD, AF, and ANG policies and guidance
