Looking for a new opportunity? A company that will train you so you can grow with them? We are looking for a motivated Tool Set- Up Technician to work at our facility in Plano, IL. The company specializes in Plastic Injection Molding products manufacturing.
Job Duties:
Position: SET UP TECHNICIAN
Reports to: Plant Manager
Supervises: N/A
Areas of Responsibility:
1. Start of day
a. Check with supervisor and/or scheduler for all daily mold changes
i. Before making any changes, make sure the production order is complete
ii. Retain a full last shot to be placed on top of the mold once it is pulled
1. This is crucial as these parts will be used for quality control, as well as any tool modifications or revisions
b. Inform lead operator and material handler that the job is complete so they can assist in removing all packaging and product from work cell and move to final audit
c. Clean up any plastic parts or mess from around the press
d. Remove all manufacturing instructions from last run and turn back into quality lab
i. At this time, you should request the new job packet for the changeover
e. Remove any auxiliary equipment
i. Conveyors
ii. Tables
iii. Secondary operations
2. Tear down of mold
a. Spray mold with rust preventative
b. Blow water out of mold
i. Pull water lines
1. Blow out water lines
c. Pull mold
i. Make sure mold is secured to the crane or forklift
ii. There should be no one standing around or below the mold as it is being pulled
d. Wipe down mold platens
e. Red tag mold if maintenance or repair is needed
i. Must fill out a work request form located in tool room
3. Mold Set up
a. Check paper work for new mold set up
b. Find a verify the new mold against the “Daily Mold Change” log
i. If there is a discrepancy, direct questions toward the scheduler
c. Measure and find ejector bars if needed
i. Make sure the ejector bars are the same length if more than one is required
d. Set machine to set-up or mold change status
i. Make sure machine is set to lowest mold closing pressure before setting mold
e. Set mold and ejector bars into press
i. Bolt to platens and tie in ejector into platen and mold
f. Install water lines
i. Check to make sure each circuit has water flow
g. Check mold for core pull function
i. If needed, add all core hydraulic lines
h. Check mold for air gate valve
i. Install if needed
i. Install hot runner controller if needed
i. Turn controller on and check all zones for any issues
ii. Turn controller back off until ready to start production
4. Press set up
a. Program the new set up into press
i. If program is already saved under mold #, load the program
b. Post new product paper work on board at the press
i. Set up sheets, job packets
c. Open mold slowly
d. Overhead crane for large press set ups
i. Clean mold halves with mold cleaner removing all rust preventative from cavities and cores
e. Set all auxiliary equipment
i. Conveyors
ii. Secondary operations
iii. Robots
iv. Tables
v. Anything else the job requires (job packet)
5. Notify Supervisor that press set up is complete
6. Requirements
a. Certified to drive forklift
b. Basic understanding of
i. Injection Molding process
ii. Electrical
iii. Pneumatics
iv. Hydraulics
v. Trouble shooting and process changes on injection molding machine
vi. Promoting and adhering to all safety guidelines
7. Equipment
a. Various press models ranging up to 2,000 ton press
b. Forklift
c. Crane for mold set ups
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
