Summary: The primary function of this position is to provide price quotes for services and products to TMI customers by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties

  • Gain knowledge of industry standards, trade association references and terminology through training
  • Monitor lead services, virtual plan rooms and estimating schedules
  • Review bid documents to determine scope of work, vendor participation and bid strategy
  • Perform estimate takeoff from architectural blueprints, specifications, and customer direction
  • Coordinate bid review with management
  • Produce price quotes, proposals, bid forms, and bid letters
  • Communicate pricing, lead time, and delivery information to customers
  • Conduct required follow up with dealers, owners, general contractors, or construction managers
  • Enter orders and transition the projects to engineering, customer services, and project management
  • Travels to customer offices when necessary

  • Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum of three years related field experience and/or training. Knowledge of architectural blueprints and specification is essential. Helpful experience would include construction trades, casework and millwork, jobsite protocol, and customer relations.

  • Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as specification guides, sales literature, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups. Ability to negotiate prices and jobsite issues with tact and toward successful outcome.

  • Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry. Ability to understand inferential statistics.

  • Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to conduct research and apply data to resolve problems and create new solutions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds (product samples). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
