Painter / Maintenance Tech.

Job Summary:

The Painter will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish interior and exterior surfaces.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Measures area to be painted; determines quantity and type of paint for the project.
• Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed.
• Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods.
• Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other nonpainted surfaces.
• Paints interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, stencils, and other tools.
• Performs basic stencil and line work, including painting lines on factory floors, parking lots, and other surfaces.
• May apply wallpaper, specialty finishes, and glazes.
• Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.
• Builds scaffolding according to safety regulations.
• Maintains a clean work area.
• Prepares invoices and other paperwork detailing material and labor time and costs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Secondary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, repairing doors, and other building fixtures.
• Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
• Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
• Knowledge of general maintenance and repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least five years of painting experience required.
• On-the-job maintenance training offered.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and painting.
• Must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to distinguish among colors.
• Must be physically able to bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
