TMS has two main areas of operations business: Commercial and Government services.
On the Commercial side, TMS manages over 100 conventions, special events, and major events annually, including notable events such as NAB, AHR, the NBA Finals & All-Star games, the Kentucky Derby, PGA golf tournaments, and music festivals like Burning Man and Coachella.
On the Government side, TMS serves as a contractor for FEMA’s Mass Care, Emergency Assistance, Housing, and Evacuation Support Contract, providing emergency evacuation support to FEMA, state, and local governments.
Position Overview:
Seeking a strategic, collaborative, and resourceful Senior Manager, Workforce, a core member of the senior leadership team and the Workforce Lead of an event transport project to be executed in Kansas City in summer 2026. This role will oversee Workforce Planning and Operations for this major international sports event across multiple venues and sites in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The Senior Manager, Workforce will be responsible for staff recruitment, deployment, and operational delivery, ensuring seamless execution and an exceptional Workforce experience. This position requires a strong background in event Workforce management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
The responsibilities are varied and wide-ranging.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Workforce Planning & Operations:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Workforce strategy and plan, ensuring scalability and efficiency for large-scale events.
- Oversee Workforce department-specific recruitment, deployment, and operational delivery across multiple event locations.
- Create, implement, and maintain Workforce operational plans, policies, procedures, and technical manuals to ensure alignment with event requirements.
- Conduct Workforce needs assessments in collaboration with event transport departments to determine staffing requirements.
- Maintain a centralized ‘source of truth’ Workforce List (Headcount) to ensure consistent and accurate data for all stipulated event transport project planning activities.
- Monitor and adjust Workforce plans as necessary, ensuring resource optimization.
- Serve as the Workforce Lead in the Transport Operations Center (TROC) during event operations, managing incident response and crisis management.
Recruitment, Training & Engagement:
- Work with internal HR teams and external staffing agencies to streamline Workforce recruitment and hiring processes.
- Manage onboarding logistics and Workforce services, including uniforms, accreditation, catering, and training distribution.
- Assist in recruitment, training, and mentorship of Workforce personnel.
- Implement engagement and retention strategies, such as reward and recognition initiatives.
Workforce Logistics & Deployment:
- Oversee rostering, scheduling, and deployment of Workforce staff across all event venues.
- Manage the implementation and harnessing of Workforce systems and technology tools for scheduling, planning, and reporting.
- Lead Workforce planning exercises, including staffing for special events and test events.
Post-Event Demobilization & Reporting:
- Develop and execute Workforce demobilization plans, including redeployment and equipment returns.
- Prepare post-event reports capturing key metrics, lessons learned, and strategic recommendations.
Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Key Skills & Knowledge Required
- Strong expertise in Workforce Management, Volunteer Management, and Event Services for large-scale international events.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), planning software, and online collaboration tools.
- Competency in Microsoft Lists and Power BI.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with government agencies, vendors, and international organizing committees.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of leadership and management experience in event Workforce planning and operations.
- Experience managing large teams in complex event environments.
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing Workforce Operations for global mega events (e.g., FIFA World Cup™, Olympic Games) and major events.
- Project management experience including planning, design, maintenance, and operation of major event operations venues.
- Excellent management capabilities to proactively drive operational improvements
- through changes in processes, procedures and organizational design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of international mega event regulations and compliance requirements.
- Multilingual skills (preferred but not required).
Work Location & Travel Requirements
- Must be open and willing to travel if necessary
- If not already local to Kansas City, relocation to the Kansas City area is required.
- Will be required to work on-site at various event venues and operational centers throughout the project lifecycle.
- As the work location is in the United States, right to work in the US is required.
