Job Duties:
- Develop and share engaging multimedia content highlighting Hawaiʻi community engagement, partnerships, education and outreach efforts.
- Respond to Hawai’I media inquiries under the guidance of the Project Manager and EOBI manager, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
- Proactively engage with local media to share updates and provides relevant information about TMT.
- Maintain and update TMT’s webpages including news, events, press coverage, and relevant scientific collaborations
- Coordinate and support the creation of communications materials (external & internal exhibition, flyers, US-ELTP communications, promotional marketing)
- Edit and produce informational and educational materials, including blogs, interviews, and videos.
- Assist with a variety of outreach events on Big Island
- Contribute to the development, editing, and production of TMT’s internal and external newsletters.
- Maintain and update TMT Multimedia collection
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree preferably in journalism, communications, English, or a science-related discipline with 4-6 years related experience
- Familiarity with Hawaʻi’s social landscape, with experience working respectfully with local communities.
- Experience in media and communications within Hawaiʻi, including social media management and website content creation
- Proficiency in ʻOlelo Hawaiʻi is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage multiple assignments with quality and timeliness
- Works independently with little or no supervision
