Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to oversee nursing operations and clinical staff within our home health services in Sacramento and Yolo Counties. This role is essential to ensuring quality care delivery, regulatory compliance, and the professional development of nursing staff. Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Recruit, train, evaluate, and mentor clinical staff in accordance with organizational policies.
- Manage regional staffing, schedules, and productivity to align with patient census and acuity while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and execute staff orientation programs and ongoing education to enhance team capabilities.
- Provide guidance and support to Clinical Supervisors to ensure continual improvement in care delivery.
- Operational Oversight:
- Coordinate and oversee all direct and indirect patient care services provided by the clinical team.
- Evaluate operational metrics to identify changes in patient volume, adjust staffing as necessary, and maintain continuity of services.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director/Administrator to develop and manage the organization’s budget.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations governing home health services.
- Maintain compliance with accrediting body standards, such as CHAP, and drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of clinical records, ensuring they meet regulatory and organizational standards.
- Monitor and manage inventory, supplies, and equipment necessary for the provision of home health services.
- Patient Care Coordination:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of patient care services to ensure a high standard of quality and safety.
- Supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care plans.
- Foster collaboration between patients, families, and healthcare providers to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Community Engagement:
- Serve as a liaison with healthcare providers, vendors, and community partners to promote home health services.
- Represent the organization professionally to enhance its visibility and reputation in the healthcare community.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution is required; Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field is highly preferred.
- Licensure:
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of nursing experience within the last five (5) years in a home health agency, primary care clinic, or healthcare facility.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or administrative role.
- Alternatively, three (3) years of management experience within the last five (5) years in a home health or healthcare organization, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities, with a focus on team building and mentorship.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in analyzing operational metrics and implementing effective strategies to improve outcomes.
- Thorough knowledge of home health regulations, standards, and best practices.
