What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Operator position at TN Michigan LLC?
SUMMARY:
The focus of this position is to setup, operate, and troubleshoot various types of plastic processing machinery in a safe and efficient manner while producing product quality that meets all customer and internal standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Shall promote safe and good work habits by example. Follow all plant safety rules and regulations. Immediately report unsafe working conditions or equipment. Maintain work areas in a clean and safe manner.
Ø Notify Manager or Shift Leader of any operations that failed or experienced problems. Ensure maintenance work orders are issued as appropriate. Follow up as necessary if maintenance problems are re-occurring.
Ø Attend Company meetings when in the plant or as directed. Attend and participate in Workcell meetings as an active member of the production team.
Ø Maintain an open mind to change and improvement. Participate in problem solving activities as required in any area of the plant. Actively seek assistance with production or processing problems when needed.
Ø Understand process work-flow in the plant. Read and follow Router instructions and be able to complete all processing and quality documentation. Input and retrieve required lot information on the QAD mainframe system.
Ø Understand and use finished goods, scheduling, and shop supply kanban cards in the workcell. Understand and use purchasing requisitions as required.
Ø Understand and use a variety of micrometers, calipers, and hand-held gages. Understand and use the Kurt Check gaging software. Perform 100% visual and/or visual sampling on in-process and finished product to determine lot acceptance levels. Understand and use the “Suspect Material” process as necessary.
Ø Access and navigate through company procedures on the computer intranet.
Ø Have the ability to setup, operate, and troubleshoot various plastic processing equipment and CNC lathes.
Ø Understanding and use of machine scheduling tools used in the plastic production areas.
Ø Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have any direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Basic math and computer skills are required.

Ability to apply basic reasoning skills. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and heat. The noise level outside the office environment is loud and requires hearing protection at all times. Steel toe safety shoes and safety glasses are required in the manufacturing area.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: Typically acquired through High School or equilivant.
Advancement Opportunities: Skill Level II, Pay Class D
Advancement Requirements: Review and understanding of next level job classification. Completion of the qualification requirements for the next Skill Level and Plant Manager approval.
