Job Title: Security Guard
Location: Tennessee School for the Blind, Nashville, TN
Pay Scale : $2114 - $3164 per month
Job Type: Full-Time Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.
Job Summary: The Tennessee School for the Blind is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, and campus. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for our visually impaired students.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor and patrol the school premises, including buildings, grounds, and parking areas, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
· Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
· Provide assistance and direction to visitors, ensuring they follow school protocols.
· Maintain a visible presence to deter potential security threats.
· Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and medical emergencies.
· Report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the appropriate authorities.
· Conduct regular inspections of security systems, including surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
· Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
· Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred.
· A valid armed/unarmed security license.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
· Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
· Physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
· A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
· Ability to pass a background check.
Working Conditions:
· The position requires working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
· May involve working some overtime and holidays.
