SALARY
Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers. Includes benefits package.
HOURS
10 months, 190 days
Contract Unit: This position is part of the Teacher's (Unit I) bargaining unit.
FLSA: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Eligibility for the Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate in Mathematics Endorsement.
National Board Certification or working towards National Board Certification preferred but not required.
Must be tenured.
Additional training and/or experience in mathematics beyond secondary certification preferred.
At least five (5) years of satisfactory classroom experience teaching mathematics. Experience at both middle and high school preferred.
Leadership and personal qualifications to work successfully in collaboration with other staff developers and instructional staff.
Experience in leading professional development activities preferred.
Experience with Maryland Common Core Readiness Standards, Language Routines, and MCAP Assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver staff development activities at the school and county levels by:
-Utilizing available data to determine staff development needs.
-Determining scientifically based research approaches for improved instruction.
-Designing and implementing staff development to meet needs.
-Evaluating effectiveness of staff development.
Serve as a resource to teachers by:
-Planning with teachers.
-Identifying and modeling instructional strategies.
-Providing demonstration lessons and/or team teaching in the development and delivery of integrated units of study.
-Sharing materials and strategies to prepare students for state-mandated testing.
-Serving as an instructional coach.
-Using technology to support mathematics instruction.
Serve as a teacher of record for one math class in a given block.
Provide small group intervention, remediation, and/or enrichment to students.
Participate in county, state and national staff development opportunities.
Other related duties as assigned.
