Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Schedule for Teachers. Includes benefits.
HOURS
10 months, 190 days
Contract Unit: This position is part of the Teacher's (Unit I) bargaining unit.
FLSA: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold valid Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate.
ESOL endorsement or extensive experience in working with Multilingual Learners (MLs) is required.
At least 3 years of satisfactory classroom experience.
Knowledge of multiple perspectives on multi-cultural education.
Experience with various technology platforms.
Leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.
OR Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and administrators.
Knowledge and experience with Maryland’s College and Career Readiness Standards.
Familiarity with formal and informal assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Report directly to the Supervisor of ESOL and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and staff at assigned schools.
Regularly monitor student progress and identify individual student needs.
Analyze assessment data to identify strengths and needs of MLs in grades 3-5 at Title I schools and utilize this information to provide literacy intervention services to ML students.
Maintain required Title 1 documentation, when applicable.
Communicate ML student updates and recommendations with ESOL and Classroom teachers.
Determine and use research-based approaches for improved instruction.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing with staff, students and community members.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of content-area standards, research, laws, and most effective practices in the field.
Other related duties as assigned.
