Summary of Position/Objective
The Transportation Director is responsible for effective scheduling and safe transport of all consumers. The Transportation Director will be responsible for the organization and scheduling of all routes to minimize expenses while maximizing efficiency and consumer satisfaction. The Transportation Director is responsible for the proper training and documentation of all drivers within the transportation department and any other employees who will drive for other departments. The Transportation Director is responsible for maintaining the entire fleet of vehicles, including scheduled maintenance, required inspections and repairs to vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Hire, counsel, and review the performance of all transportation department employees. Ensure all drivers are properly trained to do all aspects of their jobs. Maintain close communication on staffing needs and any HR issues with the HR Department.
- Maintain compliance with DOT and HCPF regulations.
- Ensure regular maintenance, as well as necessary repairs, are performed on all company vehicles.
- Assist with Day Program operations each day during route arrival times and route departure times to ensure smooth transitions and to provide leadership and support to team members.
- Attend all required meetings, including weekly TTR CR team meetings, grant meetings, and monthly corporate meetings.
- Ensure all required paperwork and tracking is completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure all vehicular incidents are properly reported and adequately investigated
- Provide usage reports each month, and enter data into the EmpowOR system.
- Ensure that the consumer experience is of the highest quality day in and day out. Adhere to all regulations and rules pertaining to Medicaid Waiver consumers; Grant consumers and DVR consumers.
- Handle and resolve all issues and problems that arise during transport with consumers; work collaboratively with the Management team.
- Communicate issues and concerns on a timely basis to the Supervisor.
- Availability to drive several routes, both AM and PM, and grant trips, per week.
Competencies/Qualifications/Education
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Have knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures.
- Have working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations affecting Iowa
- Have working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.
- Must possess strong leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and provide instruction and direction to employees on maintaining compliance with policies, rules and procedures.
- Proficient with Google applications and the ability to learn computer platforms for scheduling and timekeeping.
- Ability to respond well under pressure.
- Ability to perform simple repairs to vehicles, replacing light bulbs, tightening screws, etc. is helpful
- Must be able to drive a (non-CDL) 15 passenger van/bus
Certificates/Licenses/Registration
The employee shall possess a valid driver’s license and must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance and provide proof of private vehicle coverage.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Ability to supervise, direct and communicate with employees who are on and off site
- Provide consistent feedback to drivers
Work Hours
Hours will vary depending on the needs of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed. This position has an on call requirement.
Work Environment
The work environment is consistent with similar office environment settings and driving in all weather
conditions.

Travel
Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
