The Benefit's Account Manager position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan); provides excellent customer service to client contacts, client employees and internal team members. The Benefits Account Manager will oversee a team of Benefits Specialists (approximately 4-6) and report to the Associate Director of Benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned benefits team;
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators. Investigate discrepancies and provide information in routine/non-routine situations;
- Address client concerns;
- Ensure processes are fully implemented and audited;
- Provide mentoring and training to assigned benefits team;
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations;
- Assure timeliness and accuracy of required filings/enrollments;
- Coordinate daily benefit processing, such as, enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDRO’s, QMCSO’s, distributions, loans, hardships;
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records;
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of premium fees for all group plans;
- Implement and maintain Group Benefits databases; prepare regular benefit reports extracting data from the database;
- Analyze the current benefits, evaluating the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs and identify the company’s stance;
- Prepare, collect, and organize data for actuarial assessments; review data in conjunction with actuarial evaluation task forces;
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package;
- Coordinate and manage benefit orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions;
- Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools including power point and videos;
- Provide contribution and plan strategies to assigned clients:
- Provide training and support to client contacts regarding Group Benefits
Education/Certifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent work experience.
Previous Work Experience
- Five years benefits management experience required.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements;
- Highly customer service oriented;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Team Player;
- Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment;
- Strong Work Ethic;
- Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Proactive;
- Prior use of benefits HRIS system
- Strong desire to pursue a career in Benefits;
- Bilingual a plus.
