Who This Role Is Made For:
The Design & Engineering Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of design and engineering projects by optimizing scheduling, resource allocation, and time tracking. This role will oversee project timelines, establish priorities, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that deadlines are met, and resources are used efficiently. By driving consistent project management practices and enhancing the quality of project status updates, this role will help improve project delivery times, resource utilization, and alignment with company-wide objectives.
The Focus Of This Role:
Project Scheduling and Priorities:
- Collaborate with Project Teams
- Work closely with project teams to create meaningful, milestone-based schedules that align with the overall project goals.
- Ensure that schedules are realistic and comprehensive, setting clear deadlines for all teams involved.
- Maintain Schedules with Design & Engineering
- Partner with the design and engineering departments to track progress, set deadlines, and ensure that deadlines are consistently met.
- Establish a clear and standardized approach for defining project milestones that can be used consistently across design and engineering teams.
- Prioritization Process Development
- Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and Operations to create a robust process for setting priorities for projects.
- Ensure the effective communication of priorities across teams, making strategic decisions based on the process to maximize project success.
Resource Utilization and Time Tracking:
- Monitor Resource Allocation
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to monitor resource allocation across multiple projects, ensuring that resources are being used efficiently and appropriately.
- Identify opportunities for using external services or additional resources (such as third-party consultants) to meet project deadlines or manage workload peaks.
- Time Tracking Review
- Work with the design and engineering teams to evaluate how time is currently tracked on projects, ensuring it aligns with key project metrics.
- Implement a consistent, standardized system for tracking time spent on projects across all teams, ensuring that data can be used to predict future costs and durations with greater accuracy.
Education Requirements:
- 3 years related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related fields
Office Culture: We work in a very casual office environment. Most employees wear jeans every day, and everyone (including our President) is on a first-name basis. Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Optional "Summer” schedule is Monday – Thursday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. May have the potential for some schedule flexibility.
