What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe position at Todos Para La Salud Community Clinic?
We are seeking a Medical Scribe with an interest in primary care medicine. The Medical Scribe works 1:1 with the Medical Provider and assists in documentation of patient assessment and plan of care in the electronic medical records (EMR). As part of our team, you will have the ability to gain experience in primary care specialty while collaborating with a team of talented healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Accompany the healthcare provider into patient examination rooms in order to transcribe the patient’s history, physical exam findings, consultations, labs, X-rays, and other evaluations, as stated by the provider, directly into the medical record
- Navigate the EMR during assistance of patient care
- Prepare plans for follow-up care, as directed by the provider
- Process admitted and discharge paperwork
- Perform other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow
- Comply with policies, including those relating to HIPAA and Joint Commission
- Responsible for reviewing information with the provider to confirm accurate reporting
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to analyze medical procedures to define objectives
- Prior clinical experience required such as volunteering, shadowing, clinical research, scribing and Medical Assisting (MA)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Scribing experience in an inpatient clinic
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to distinguish between different exams, medical procedures and diagnosis
- Strong skills in medical data collection and interpretation
- Prior experience in working with electronic medical records (specifically in eClinicalWorks)
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Professional and reliable work ethic
License or certification: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
License or certification:
Medical Assistant Certificate (preferred)
Language :Spanish preferable
