Development Specialist

The Development Specialist plays an important role on the Development Team as it seeks to build relationships and support for the programs and services of Together for Youth. This role will support several development functions with an emphasis on building strong relationships, identifying funding opportunities, planning events, and managing data to be used for decision making.

The position will work in collaboration with the Director of Development to design fundraising strategies, diversify revenue streams, and enhance the donor experience to meet fundraising goals and other annual benchmarks.

Together for Youth (Canaan, NY) and The House of the Good Shepherd (Utica, NY). This position will be a part of SCNY and is based in Canaan, NY. The Training & Professional Development Specialist 1 will follow Together for Youth's (TFY) guidelines regarding benefits, compensation and all policies and procedures as outlined in the TFY employee handbook.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Development Operations

• Serve as the primary user of the donor database managing utilization, maintenance, and recommendations of enhancements and efficiencies.
• Perform gift entry functions and reconcile regularly with the Finance team.
• Manage donor receipt and acknowledgement process.
• Analyze patterns, pull reports, and create mailing lists as needed.
• Add, update, merge, archive, or remove accounts as part of data hygiene standards.
• Track donor communications, engagements, and other notes in the database.
• Manage the internal Donor Funds Request process.

Development Events

• Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of development related events.
• Coordinate sponsorships including the solicitation, renewal, and stewardship of event sponsorship support.
• Manage committees, vendors, and staff partners in relation to achieving event related development goals.

General Fundraising Activities

• Serve as a first point of contact for prospective and current donors.
• Assist in prospecting and acquisition of new donors and partnerships.
• Maintain relationships through email, mail, phone, and in-person visits.
• Support other development functions including annual giving, grants, prospect research, board relations, and impact reporting.
• Support stewardship activities including personalized acknowledgements, annual report, and other impact reporting projects.

Requirements:

• Minimum of Associates degree in a related field, Bachelors degree preferred.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in related field required. Experience in a development office and/or nonprofit organization preferred.
• Must have a Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving history to the Agency.
• Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse population.
