The Safety Intern will play an integral role in supporting the Safety and Risk operations, gaining valuable hands-on experience in workplace safety, risk management, and compliance initiatives. This role will provide exposure to key safety practices that contribute to a safe and thriving workforce. The intern will assist in coordinating safety program activities, conducting audits, and analyzing compliance data to support organizational safety goals.

In addition, noise, darkness, brightness, vibrations, traffic, biological agents, chemicals, gas/ fumes, magnetic fields, or congested area. Environmental factors include indoor, flat surface, noise, sitting with occasionally walking and standing.
- Assist the Safety Director with investigations of workplace incidents and injuries, contributing to root cause analysis and prevention strategies.
- Support the design, research, and distribution of the Key Log Project, by developing surveys, analyzing key locations, and creating a validation process.
- Maintain and analyze safety data using Excel and database systems to track trends and improve reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate on various Safety Projects ensuring the projects are executed effectively and contribute to the broader goals for the department.
- Advocate for Safety Culture by conducting and promoting field inspections to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Support the development and enforcement of safety policies, procedures, and preventive measures to mitigate risks.
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED administrator and currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Safety, or related field.
- Ability to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
