TOK America’s Inspection laboratory quantifies, characterizes, certifies, and approves all materials incoming and produced at TOK America domestically. TOK America’s Inspection laboratory focuses on training staff on Instrumentation and improving analytical techniques to meet the demands of being in the cutting edge of the industry. Title
: Lab Technician
Department: Inspection
Status: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Schedules: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of a 2-Year AA Degree or equivalent education and experience.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must be comfortable working with chemicals including, but not limited to, corrosives and organic solvents.

SUMMARY
:
  • Function: Analyzing samples in a high-volume chemical manufacturing for composition, impurities and/or functional characteristics.
  • Operates and maintains analytical chemistry instruments and tools.

Scope:
Responsible for performing routine analysis of samples and other routine activities to support in manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepares and Analyzes samples using analytical instruments and tools for trace, content, or defect analysis, including pH measurement, titration, gas/liquid chromatography, liquid particle counting, chemical performance, and trace metals analysis.
  • Operates and maintains analytical tools, performing tasks such as electrode solution exchange, septum/column replacement, cell cleaning, and glassware cleaning/preparation.
  • Monitors and manages consumable supplies for analysis ensuring inventory is maintained.
  • Creates and qualifies analytical standards for instrument calibration.
  • Performs qualification/stability studies for validation of analytical testing methods.
  • Follows all department SOPs, Data, and Forms and updates as needed.
  • Performs cleaning and organizing of all inspection areas according to 6S standards.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance the quality or safety of TOK processes.
  • Handles and disposes of hazardous waste properly.
  • Assists in quality monitoring on the production floor
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Maintains quality records, including standard qualifications, SOP updates, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and assess job site conditions and equipment functionality, including inspecting, detecting, observing, identifying, and flagging concerns, challenges, hazards, equipment malfunctions, etc. to ensure work is performed efficiently and safely.
  • Use and operate a personal computer, office equipment and other technology devices frequently and consistently throughout each day with a high degree of skill, accuracy, and independent judgment for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data, and other business related information.
  • Attending required trainings on courses related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, quality management, and environmental management.
  • Perform other necessary duties and tasks as requested.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
There is a potential for exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. This position requires employee to remain alert and observe surrounding areas and conditions to identify, recognize, and respond to potential obstacles, safety concerns, hazards, threats, property conditions requiring attention, unauthorized and/or dangerous persons, and emergencies. The work environment conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.   • Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while wearing appropriate and required personal protective equipment. Follow all safety regulations and protocols. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of proper body mechanic/ergonomics and use correct body position/mechanics, tools, or work aids to work, move, maneuver, guide, or place objects or materials.
  • Work for extended periods of time in a stationary position (possibly up to 60 minutes or more without an opportunity to substantially change position) while consistently grasping, moving, and manipulating documents, supplies, computer equipment, and other tools and materials.
