Role Summary
In Game Production provides students or recent graduates the opportunity to learn the creative and technical processes of live sports production. This role works a member of the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye promotions team and receives hands-on experience maintaining and operative AV equipment for internal and external broadcasts. The role has different game day functions including In-Game Day Production (Audio, Tricaster, Show Control) and Broadcast Production (Camera Operation, Xpression, and MIRA). Essential Responsibilities
- Participate in the production of A/V and broadcasting systems at Fifth Third Field, Huntington Center, and Hensville.
- Operate audio board and music computer in accordance with the Game Day Director.
- Operate Tricaster system in accordance with the Game Day Director.
- Operate Show Control in accordance with the Game Day Director.
- Import and format new content into A/V systems.
- Set up/tear down and operate camera in accordance with the Game Day Director and Broadcast Director.
- Help complete routine A/V projects for season preparation.
- Operate Replay and Video Playback (MIRA) in accordance with the Broadcast Director.
- Create and generate graphics (Xpression) in accordance with the Broadcast Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current enrollment or recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Sports Management, or related field preferred. Can be a post-graduate role.
- Intermediate knowledge of baseball and hockey.
- Basic knowledge or experience working with A/V and/or broadcasting equipment.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to execute a number of tasks at the same time and working well under pressure.
- Intermediate knowledge of baseball and hockey.
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively to enhance game day and broadcast presentation.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, scoop, for the duration of the shift.
- Occasionally lifting A/V equipment, weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Constantly communicates with broadcasters, production team members, team managers, and media about production. Must be able to accurately exchange information.
- Occasionally will be outdoors in all types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
