Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- High School Graduate or G.E.D.
- Must have State Certification or be in process of obtaining same.
Specific Job-Related Experience:
- Experience or training in electronic monitoring equipment, monitoring boilers, energy use, power outage, etc.
- Experience with Security system alarms is preferred.
Primary Job Function: Responsible for the operation of all emergency communication equipment; this includes both radio and telephone networks. During a crisis period when normal communication links may be inoperable, radio communication is critical. Specialist must monitor all systems – both security and mechanical in nature. Acts as supervisor of any emergency radio base station.
Job Duties:
- The Electronic Specialist is responsible for the proper utilization of the burglar alarm system, They must keep informed of all equipment improvements and when desirable recommend the installation of new equipment. They must maintain all records associated with the alarm operation, and must advise the Director of Security of problem areas that require special attention.
- Must have knowledge of (1) safety practices, (2) recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate emergency action, (3) understand powerhouse procedures, (4) calculate fractions, decimals and percentages, (5) work alone, (6) be physically fit.
- Will operate and direct workers in the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of auxiliary equipment (i.e. flow meters, pumps, fans and related equipment).
- Keep log recording gauge readings. Watches meters, starts, synchronizes, switches and stop as needed.
- Allow or deny access to building through security pass procedures.
- Surveillance of mechanical equipment causing the following:
- Freeze ups in buildings
- Power outages and usage
- Water leaks
- Boiler malfunctions
- Air conditioning failure
- Control for system failure
- Excessive energy use
- Food Service system failure
- Food spoilage
