Primary Job Function: Responsible for the operation of all emergency communication equipment; this includes both radio and telephone networks. During a crisis period when normal communication links may be inoperable, radio communication is critical. Specialist must monitor all systems - both security and mechanical in nature. Acts as supervisor of any emergency radio base station.

Job Duties
- Dispatch is responsible for the proper utilization of the burglar alarm system. Issues with the alarm operation and locking mechanisms must be documented.
- Surveillance of fire and security alarm systems.
- Monitoring radio traffic and documenting the needs of School Resource Officers.
- Allow or deny access to buildings through security pass procedures.
- Must have knowledge of (1) safety practices, (2) recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate emergency action, (3) ability to work alone.
- Responsible for contacting the foreman in charge in the event the following are reported:
- Freeze ups in buildings
- Power outages and usage
- Water leaks
- Boiler malfunctions
- Air conditioning failure
- Control for system failure
- Excessive energy use
- Food Service system failure
- Food spoilage
- Excessive cost due to theft
- Destruction of property
