Job Overview
Tolerance Masters, Inc is a precision machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machined parts and sub-assemblies.
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and services critical to the manufacturing of CNC-machined parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment, excellent negotiation skills, and a working knowledge of machining-related materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase raw materials (e.g., metals, fasteners, tooling), machined parts, and MRO items based on production schedules and inventory levels.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships. Evaluate vendor performance, lead times, pricing, and quality compliance.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with inventory control and production to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Issue, track, and expedite purchase orders. Resolve discrepancies in orders, deliveries, and invoices.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to align procurement activities with project timelines and specifications.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- 2 years of buying or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes and materials (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel, tooling, etc.)
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality standards
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) procurement
- Experience with vendor sourcing and global supply chain strategies
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP, JobBOSS, Oracle, etc.)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.00 - $39.00 per hour
