Job Title: Construction Budget & Cost Estimation Specialist 

Work Hours: Maximum 8 hours per day 

Experience: Minimum 5 years in cost estimation (preferably with NYC DEP projects)

Currently, we are seeking a Construction Cost Estimator to join our team for a long-term project with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP). This position is critical in providing accurate cost estimates and financial oversight for ongoing and future construction projects. 


Responsibilities 

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: 
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and additional project expenses. 
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to prepare accurate cost, time, and labor estimates. 
  • Engage with project stakeholders, engineers, and contractors to assess financial viability and provide cost insights. 
  • Prepare and submit change order cost estimates and provide cost control measures to align project budgets. 
  • Project Cost Management & Control: 
  • Compare actual costs to budgeted projections and provide ongoing financial tracking. 
  • Conduct on-site evaluations to verify cost estimates and adherence to financial planning. 
  • Ensure compliance with all project specifications, regulatory standards, and financial reporting requirements. 
  • Reporting & Documentation: 
  • Prepare detailed reports, financial analyses, and presentations for internal and client review. 
  • Utilize estimation software and tools for cost analysis, forecasting, and data management. 


Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Cost Estimator (preferably with NYC DEP projects). 
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, and safety standards. 
  • Proficiency in estimation software, MS Office Suite, and relevant project management tools. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical specifications.
