What are the responsibilities and job description for the NAU/TESD Faculty Anchor position at Tolleson Elementary School District?

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree or higher (doctorate)
  • Current Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Current Arizona Administrative Certificate (preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience
  • Possesses collaborative leadership skills, mentoring skills, and knowledge of adult learners
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to innovate
  • Bilingual preferred

REPORTS TO:     Assistant Superintendent/NAU College of Education & Professional Education Programs.

 

JOB GOAL:

 

Develop the NAU Grow Your Own Program and design strategies to support NAU College of Education students in their educational, personal, social, and career development.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be involved in the development of student recruitment plan and ongoing recruitment activities.
  2. Provide orientation for students for the Grow Your Own program.
  3. Actively coordinate or support practicum and student teaching placements in conjunction with the NAU College of Education staff.
  4. Hold regular office hours that are shared with students in the TESD cohort.
  5. Mentor college students in the TESD cohort.
  6. Mentor 1 st Year teachers.
  7. Help recruit part-time faculty for cohort courses offered at the district location.
  8. Provide orientation for part-time faculty and mentor part-time faculty, including assisting then with university resources and developing the master syllabus.
  9. Teach three courses per academic year, including one practicum course.
  10. Attend NAU faculty meetings as scheduled.
  11. Develop a strong, working relationship with NAU statewide staff members.
  12. Participate and represent NAU and the district in community or media events that promote the Grow Your Own partnership.
  13. Support research activities related to the Grow Your Own initiative as well as grant writing.
  14. Support the NAU Flagstaff Mountain campus accreditation priorities, committees, meetings, and programmatic needs as needed based on requests from the department chair of College of Education leadership.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Ten-month employee, on the Academic Support Placement Schedule in accordance with Board policy.
