Purpose and Scope
Responsible for technical and administrative duties related to Tolmar’s comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Hazardous and nonhazardous waste coordination and handling of shipments may include but is not limited to, characterization of waste, sampling and transfer of waste between generation areas, satellite accumulation and storage. Scheduling shipments with approved waste handling companies. Overseeing the loading of hazardous waste shipments and signing manifests.
- Respond to spills per the Chemical Spill Procedures.
- Participate in required annual hazardous waste training.
- Maintain the Hazardous/Non-Hazardous Waste Manifest spreadsheets for all buildings and ensure all manifests are maintained according to Company requirements.
- Assist in managing company emergency response processes and programs including hazardous waste contingency plans.
- Conduct job hazard analysis (JHA) of various positions in Manufacturing, QC Lab and QA as requested.
- Maintain presence on the Manufacturing floor, Warehouse floor, QC Labs, and Facilities/Maintenance areas to ensure safety protocols are followed by employees.
- Maintain company EHS procedures. This requires performing periodic review and updates in the EDMS.
- Perform safety inspections, participate in incident investigations and recommend appropriate changes.
- Maintain an inventory of all EHS Equipment, ensure the availability, reliability, and readiness of EHS equipment and supplies. Ensure calibrations are completed on time.
- Assist in managing hazardous waste and other regulated wastes.
- Maintain Respirator Qualified Personnel List, ensure training and medical clearances are completed annually.
- Assist in supporting, developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, standards, programs and procedures.
- Assist in on-site OSHA and EPA regulatory training for all employees.
- Enthusiastically partner with management and others to assure a culture of high safety and health standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be comfortable in a role that includes establishing and writing safe job functions, miscellaneous safety, and environmental health procedures.
- Must be willing to share knowledge by training others, as well as use passion to drive a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Adequate knowledge of local, state and federal health and safety regulations and their impact on operations.
- Knowledge of machine and chemical process safety requirements.
- Knowledge of contractor, site expansion, and construction safety requirements.
- Proficient knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent presentation and training skills.
- Excellent communication skills—both technical writing and verbal.
- Skill in organization, planning and follow through.
- Ability to prioritize among multiple challenges.
- Ability to write reports and routine business correspondence.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Acceptable MVR and valid Colorado Driver’s License required.

- Associates degree in safety sciences including environmental science, safety, industrial hygiene or related scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 or more years’ experience in a safety role preferred
- Some experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in a cGMP environment preferred.
- Working conditions include an office environment, cGMP manufacturing/ warehouse and laboratory environment.
- Pay: $27.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience
