Tom R. Johnson, Attorney at Law, is looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented, and motivated Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our fast-paced team. This is a key position within our firm, where the Legal Assistant / Paralegal will play an essential role in supporting our legal team, especially in the area of Workers' Compensation law. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, along with a thorough understanding of Workers' Compensation law and the EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System) platform. This position demands the ability to quickly learn new legal information, manage a high volume of tasks, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in all areas of Workers' Compensation claims and legal processes.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist attorneys in the preparation of legal documents related to Workers' Compensation cases, including motions, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Maintain and organize files and case materials, ensuring all documents are accurately filed, up to date, and easily accessible for legal teams.
  • Conduct legal research in Workers' Compensation law, compiling relevant information and precedents to support case strategies.
  • Communicate with clients, experts, witnesses, and opposing counsel, ensuring that all Workers' Compensation case details are accurately discussed and updated.
  • Draft legal documents related to Workers' Compensation claims, ensuring compliance with both legal requirements and firm standards.
  • Assist attorneys with scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings related to Workers' Compensation cases.
  • Handle high volumes of phone calls, addressing client inquiries and providing excellent service while managing Workers' Compensation case details.

Requirements :

  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistance, or a related field, or at least two years of relevant work experience in a Legal Assistant or Paralegal role.
  • Experience in Workers' Compensation law is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System) is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple Workers' Compensation cases and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage high call volumes and respond effectively to client inquiries.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and case files.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for client interaction and collaboration with attorneys and other legal professionals.
  • Compensation : Compensation for this role will be based on experience.
