POSITION DETAILS

Full-time with benefits; 80 hours in the two week pay period, Monday through Friday day shift; flexibility required to work nights and weekend hours during special projects; on call for a week rotation required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Information Systems (IS) Network Systems Administrator is responsible for the deployment, administration, maintenance, expansion and reliability of the data/communication network.  This includes all of the hardware connected to the network: routers, switches, firewalls, servers, VPN connectivity, PCs, printers, and other various types of medical equipment/software in a stand-alone and network environment.   This includes troubleshooting network, hardware and software problems, installing upgrades, administering servers, recommending software and hardware acquisitions, supporting all users and keeping abreast of computer technology developments.  The Administrator will assist in projects and provide backup to the IS Director as necessary. 

 MAJOR JOB FUNCTION

  1. Responsible for the design, maintenance, setup, backup, repair, upgrades, troubleshooting, and growth of all network equipment and devices attached to the network.  Provide technology related support for the core hospital infrastructure, campus software, VoIP phone system, VM environment, etc.  Ensure information technology capabilities exist to execute software.  Provide direction and support for administration/security of local area network, wide area network and client server systems along with remote connectivity. 
  2.  Responsible for the evaluation, implementation, installation, support, repair, upgrade, troubleshooting, and backup of all facility approved/installed software and the data created. 
  3. Develop and implement proper security, regulate system access and actively participate in hospital’s security plan and development.  Appropriately bring to the attention actual and/or potential violations of the organization’s established policies, procedures and standards.
  4.  Assist with help desk functions to all staff, medical providers, support, and vendors  to utilize, develop, resolve, train, troubleshoot, and upgrade the various facility installed software and hardware.  Ability to work with/access various outside vendors and support to support network/software functions.
  5. Monitors the information system and suggest changes to improve services, simplify workflow, and assure compliance with regulatory requirements.  Assists with analyzing needs of the entire system along with departmental needs in relation to the overall system flow.
  6. Assists in developing short and long-range departmental goals and objectives that are consistent with the goals of the hospital.
  7. Keep up to date with technology trends and continue education in the field of information systems.  Access and understand resource materials such as manuals, web knowledge based resources, etc. to support various hardware and software.
  8. Assists with maintaining department reports and records for administrative and regulatory purposes.  Remains current with health and computer industry trends and regulatory policies.  Ensure department systems are in place to comply with national, state and industry regulations.
  9. Accepts on-call responsibility during off-hour coverage and responds promptly to resolve problems, and covers department in the absence of the IS Director.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Associate degree in information systems/technology required with at least 3 years experience.
  2. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  1. Must have typing skills, problem solving skills, and mechanical ability as well as a high sense of integrity, responsibility and ability to analyze issues.
  2. Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress and with minimal supervision.
  3. Ability to communicate with staff at a non-technical level as well as in a cooperative and courteous manner.
  4. Prefer experience and/or skills in the following:
    1. Windows 20xx network administration experience or certification (to include understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS, etc.)
    2. Client/Server Applications, Patch Management, Linux, Active Directory, Group Policies, VMware, voice/phone communication systems, etc.
    3. Network security and audits.
    4. Wireless configuration.
    5. Internet access administration, configuration and support.
    6. PC assembly, troubleshooting and maintenance.
    7. Printer troubleshooting and light maintenance.
    8. Software installation, configuration, maintenance and support; windows based environment.
    9. User helpdesk support and IT ticketing systems
    10. Server back-up management and restore.
    11. Audit and security logs analysis and management.
    12. Project development, organization and planning.
    13. HIPAA policy development and compliance.
    14. Hospital information systems.
    15. Planning and responding to system outages.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. The Network Systems Administrator is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is also required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  2. The Network Systems Administrator must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
