POSITION DETAILS
Full-time with benefits; 80 hours per two week pay period, Monday through Friday day shift. Must have flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on special projects or trainings. No weekends or holidays. Internal only!
JOB SUMMARY
The Professional Development RN is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, evaluation and delivery of orientation, in-service education, continuing education and competency education for staff. The RN also serves as a resource person to staff and managers, participates on committees and participates in performance improvement activities. The RN is regularly visible and accessible to serve as a resource for staff. The RN also is integral in planning, organizing and delivering educational programming to our community partners and community members.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTION
- Develops and implements required training and educational activities including, but not limited to, instructor led courses, self-study, computer assisted, or job aids consistent with objectives.
- Is available to staff on patient care units to serve as a resource and provides “just in time” education and/or assists with skills.
- Develops staff to be able to deliver quality care through orientation, initial, ongoing and annual competency assessments and education.
- Assists in training staff on the appropriate use of equipment, supplies and resources.
- Works with unit managers and HR in the analysis, development, implementation, testing and recording of staff competencies and annual education plans. Assists with maintaining required documentation elements for staff education and competency assessment.
- Coordinate and delivers on requests for learning and teaching opportunities.
- Researches, designs, develops, coordinates and implements learning programs based on organizational and departmental needs.
- Assists with facilitation and the coordination and training related to programs to meet the needs of training and certification.
- Develops and implements educational activities including but not limited to, instructor led courses, or self-study, computer assisted.
- Assists the department in developing, planning, organizing and delivering education to the community.

- Maintains required documentation elements for staff education and competency assessment.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement projects and assists with evaluation of the effectiveness of educational services.

- Maintains professional contacts through staff development peers, RWHC and state and local organizations as applicable.

- Coordinates, tracks, and provides orientation to a variety of students who are utilizing Tomah Health as a clinical site.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred, Associate’s degree acceptable.
- 2-4 year’s healthcare experience required.
- Prior experience with development and delivery of education preferred.
- Current and valid WI Registered Nurse license.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Duties require normal vision and hearing for both phone and computer work.
- Frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The RN is required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Requires extended periods of sitting in one position and constant computer use.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
