Fleet Crane and Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and well rounded crane and truck mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in maintaining, diagnosing and repairing propane, gasoline and diesel engines, cranes, and other heavy equipment both in a shop/yard environment and in the field. This role is critical to ensuring our equipment remains operational and complies with all safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components on heavy, medium and light-duty trucks as well as heavy-duty cranes, material handlers and associated support equipment both in a shop/yard and remotely in the field.

• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.

• Conduct safety and operational inspections on all equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.

• Order and manage parts inventory to ensure timely repairs.

• Collaborate with operators and other team members to address mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on cranes, heavy equipment, on-road medium and heavy-duty trucks and propane, gasoline and diesel engines.

• Extensive knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and automotive electrical systems.

• Experience with Grove, Liebherr, Tadano, Manitex, National, Broderson and Terex cranes is highly preferred.

• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. CDL preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently in the field and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Must have ability to successfully diagnose, repair and service multiple styles of equipment.

• Must have strong time management skills.

• Must have a complete set of hand tools.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physically demanding tasks.

• Capability to work in varying weather conditions and confined spaces.

• Ability to stand, kneel, crouch and lie prone or supine for extended periods.

• Must be able to physically perform all required tasks in the field without assistance except where required.
