What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vineyard Operations Manager position at Tomasello Winery, Inc.?
Tomasello Winery is seeking a Vineyard Manager for its combined 68-acre vineyard in Hammonton and Winslow Township, NJ, known as the Viticulture Outer Coastal Plain Region.
Responsibilities include the following:
1. Equipment inspection, responsible for identifying needed repairs and perform light equipment maintenance.
2. Operating Tractors, & Tractor implements to accomplish various vineyard practices, such as Sprayers, Frail Mowers, Mechanical Grape Harvester, Hedger, Leaf Puller etc.
3. Must complete and pass pesticide exam to hold a Private Certified Pesticide Applicator’s license issued by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Must attend on-going seminars to keep license active. Must be able to identify grape diseases and pest. (On the job training is provided)
4. Basic Vineyard Repairs: Working with staff including trellis repairs, repair wire and replacing poles when needed. Irrigation repairs including replace drip tubes where needed, clean filters, repair leaks and winterize system.
5. Basic vineyard work, such as helping staff position bird netting where needed, install bird sound deterrent systems and learning to program lasers.
Requirements:
1. Must be over the age of 21. Some computer ability needed. i.e. Microsoft Excel and Word.
2. Must be willing to work overtime, especially during harvest season.
3. Must be able to work in outside climates in all four seasons. Must be able to lift at least 55 pounds.
4. Must have valid Driver’s License
5. Work Conditions may include exposure to loud equipment. Must follow all Agricultural Management Practices, safety protocols, and proper use of all PPE safety equipment supplied by employer.
