Job Summary
This role involves managing incoming and outgoing shipments, inspecting packages for accuracy, documenting and tracking inventory, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. The Material Handler will assist with moving raw materials to the production area as well as move finished goods to the yard.
Responsibilities
Receive and Inspect Incoming Shipments:
- Receive packages, materials, and supplies from carriers and other departments.
- Verify the accuracy of shipments by checking the quantity and quality of items against the accompanying documentation.
- Report any discrepancies or damages to the appropriate parties.
- Unpack, label and organize received items for storage or immediate use.
Prepare and Package Outgoing Shipments:
- Review shipping orders, invoices, or requisitions to determine items to be shipped and their destinations.
- Select appropriate packaging materials and methods based on the nature of the items being shipped.
- Pack items securely to prevent damage during transportation.
- Generate shipping labels, BOL's, documents, and other necessary paperwork.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of received and shipped items using manual or electronic systems (e.g., JobbBoss2, Dropbox).
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts to ensure stock levels are accurate.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with relevant departments regarding stock replenishment needs.
- Assist in organizing and optimizing warehouse space to maximize storage efficiency.
Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to resolve any shipping or receiving issues.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods and address any shipment delays or discrepancies.
- Provide assistance and support to other departments, such as purchasing, production, or customer service, regarding shipping or inventory-related inquiries.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to shipping and receiving policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Comply with health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Handle hazardous materials or substances following appropriate safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- At least two years' related experience is required
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, including familiarity with shipping software or inventory management systems.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency using spreadsheets and word processing software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of working in a warehouse and production facility.
- Prolonged and frequent exposure to outside elements.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
