What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math/Reading Interventionist - Tomball Elementary School - 2025-2026 School Year position at TOMBALL ELEMENTARY?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Deliver small-group and one-on-one math and reading intervention sessions to students who are performing below grade level.
This is a federally funded position that will be evaluated annually. One-year contract.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors Degree from Accredited University
Three (3) years of teaching experience
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
ESL Certification Required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness
Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of grade level TEKS
Knowledge of best practices in development in literacy
Knowledge of research-based balanced literacy programs
Experience:
Three years successful elementary classroom teaching experience in literacy required
Experience with planning and presenting staff development presentations required
Experience in development of literacy curriculum, instruction and assessment programs required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management
- Facilitate guidance of data to campus administration, instructional leadership teams, and teachers on a consistent basis to drive instructional decisions for targeted students in the area of reading on targeted standards for those who experienced learning loss.
- Uses data to plan, implement, and evaluate literacy curriculum and instructional programs with teachers and principals, including identification of learning objectives and outcomes, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Collaborates with content area coordinators to address program needs specific to targeted students.
- Works with teachers and appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on state curriculum requirements and district goals for literacy.
- Works with teachers and appropriate staff to evaluate instructional materials, supplies and books, and to organize classrooms for effective learning.
- Works with teachers to plan appropriate instructional modifications for students with special learning needs.
- Plans and delivers staff development sessions to raise level of instructional performance in literacy programs.
- Encourages incorporation of appropriate use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
- Performs classroom push in support as needed and teacher/student demonstrations.
- Works with individuals and committees on problems of procedure and content for literacy instruction.
- Informs teachers, administrators, community members and parents of major trends and developments in elementary literacy programs
- Maintains a professional level of confidentiality concerning personnel and students.
- Perform duties and other appropriate duties as assigned in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, state and local board policy.
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment
