PRIMARY PURPOSE :
Direct and manage the instructional program and supervise operations at the campus level. Provide instructional leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Direct the implementation of district policies and instructional programs and manage the operation of all campus activities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Education/Certification :
Master’s degree in Educational Administration
Texas mid-management or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certificate for appraiser in TTESS
ILD certification
Special Knowledge and Skills :
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Minimum Experience :
Three years experience as a classroom teacher
Five years experience as a secondary campus administrator
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Instructional Management
- Systematically and continuously provide active direction to the instructional processes ensuring that program activities are related to program outcomes.
- Collaborate with staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum on a systematic basis, and include students and community representation (when appropriate).
School/Organizational
- Collaborate with the school leadership team in developing the mission of the school and articulating a vision directed toward school improvement.
- Initiate and support programs and actions that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning and an orderly purposeful environment.
- Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
- Provide for two-way communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
- Ensure the effective and quick resolution of conflicts.
School/Organizational Improvement
- Use evaluative data and needs assessment findings to formulate school improvement goals and objectives cooperatively with staff and members of the school community.
- Identify, analyze, and apply research findings (e.g., effective school correlates) to promote school improvement.
Personnel Management
- Manages personnel effectively. Prepares, reviews, and revises job descriptions in one’s area of responsibility.
- Define expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
- Make recommendations to superintendent on termination, suspension, or non-renewal of employees assigned to campus.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Develop budgets based upon documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel and other fiscal needs; implement programs within budget limits; maintain fiscal control and accurately report fiscal information.
- Comply with district policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the school.
- Manage use of school facilities. Supervise maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
Student Management
- Encourage development and implementation of plans for improved student behavior that reflect enhanced learning opportunities for all students.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student handbook.
- Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Professional Growth and Development
- Be actively involved in acquiring and disseminating ideas and information to other professionals; provide leadership in addressing the challenges facing the profession.
- Utilize information and insights gained in professional development programs for self-improvement.
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all campus staff.
School/Community Relations
- Communicate a clear and precise statement of purpose with students, parents, and community; project a positive image that enhances the school mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus including associate principal, assistant principals, teachers, counselors, librarian, instructional aides, and clerical support staff.
