What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator - Agriculture Science position at Tomball ISD?
Provide leadership, administrative authority and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated Agriculture Sciences program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree from accredited university preferred, Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation associated with Agricultural Sciences Programs of Study
- Experience with school district livestock show organization and oversite
- Proficient in or willing to be trained in specialized FFA and livestock show software programs such as ShoWorks and AET
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs in order to ensure a cycle of continuous improvement.
- Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
- Ability to interpret data
- Strong professional, administrative, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
A minimum of five years teaching experience in Agriculture Sciences
CDL preferred or willing to obtain
- Lead and manage all logistics relating to the TISD Project Show including purchasing, budgeting, planning, coordination of personnel, and collaboration with supporting departments and teams.
- Collaborate with Agriculture Science teachers and district administration to revise and maintain the TISD Project Show Exhibitor Handbook and TISD Project Show Plan.
- Assist CTE Director to continually improve the quality of the Agriculture Sciences program through instruction, counseling, management, and leadership to produce success for all students and campus programs.
- Promote and support FFA Chapters for all Agriculture Sciences departments.
- Maintain district FFA Project Show budget.
- Plan and conduct an organized program of instruction and/or community involvement with adults such as booster clubs.
- Coordinate large scale ordering of departmental instructional aids and materials for Agriculture Sciences
- Maintain on-going, timely, and consistent communication and follow-up with teachers and district staff.
- Consult and collaborate with district CTE personnel and Agriculture Science teachers on facilities and construction.
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in the areas of Agriculture Sciences.
- Oversee Agriculture Sciences facilities and equipment.
- Monitor entries pertaining to the TISD Project Show and maintain an accurate file copy of all records and reports.
- Assume a responsible role in public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural and other community organizations.
- Develop, monitor, and revise curriculum for relevant courses with an emphasis on project and work-based learning.
- Assist in the selection of Agriculture Sciences instructional resources.
- Attend Agriculture Teacher conferences and facilitate professional learning communities with teaching staff.
- Provide oversite and support for the high school barbeque.
- Evaluate the Agriculture Sciences program district-wide on an organized and annual basis.
- Be able to support campuses by serving as a chaperone for in state and/or out of state events.
- Evaluate the Agriculture Sciences program district-wide on an organized and annual basis.
- Communicate with teachers and administrators to maintain professional and personal ethics in dealing with students, parents, community leaders, etc. associated with Agriculture Sciences
- Maintain the Compliance Committee Handbook and facilitate the Compliance Committee process as needed.
- Coordinate the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment and ensure compliance with lab safety protocols.
- Collect, compile and analyze data to be used in program evaluation, CCMR tracking, filing state and federal reports and compliance monitoring
- Remain current on Agriculture Science and CTE regulations, trends and practices
- Collaborate with CTE Administration, district staff, principals and teachers to support CTE initiatives and programming throughout the district.
