Who We’re Looking for

We’re looking for a Safety Coordinator to manage the organization’s safety and security programs.The ideal candidate will be a passionate, generalist with working knowledge of safety in a manufacturing environment. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with the production team and will report to the Plant Manager.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily.
  • Conducts safety observation reports on a regular basis, depending on the length of the project.
  • Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks.
  • Educates employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation.
  • Provides recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
  • Investigates accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident.
  • In collaboration with HR, maintains documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents and related events.
  • Acts as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Work a variable shift schedule to overlap with 1st and 2nd shift.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
  • Certified Safety Professional or similar form of licensure
  • Computer skills required:
  • Spreadsheet Software (Excel/Google Sheets)
  • Project Management software
  • Word Processing Software (Word/Google Docs)
  • Electronic Mail Software (Google Mail)
  • Presentation software (Powerpoint/Google Slides)
  • Safety Management system software

Desired Skills

  • Conflict Resolution
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
  • Understanding federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting
  • deadlines.
  • Collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and peers.
  • Understanding of how to read blueprints and other construction plans preferred in some fields.
  • Leadership skills such as the ability to provide feedback, influence change and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
