Controls Engineer
Tommy’s is looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to develop new technologies, drive product enhancement, design hardware and software platforms for process control, communication, documentation, and other systems critical to our high-capacity wash processes. Team members will also play a role in support and fulfillment at the wash site.

Position Responsibilities:
- Electrical circuit design for car wash control system including pumps, blowers, solenoids, push buttons, e-stops, photo eyes, pressure sensors, etc.
- Program car wash controls system to support wash operations with appropriate timing, equipment operation and sensing of critical parameters while maintaining the safety of the wash
- Establish, document, and maintain controls system standards including default settings, configuration profiles, startup procedures and troubleshooting guides
- Test, validate, and document product performance
- Produce schematics of control panels and field wiring diagrams
- Create documentation checklists, issue communication and quality related support bulletins
- Support control panel building operations as the conduit for engineering knowledge and requirements

Position Qualifications & Candidate Attributes:
- Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in electrical and/or industrial control software engineering
- Experience with CAD schematic design with AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks, MS Visio, or similar packages
- Experience in writing and developing ladder logic, structured text and function block diagram programs for industrial control systems
- 1 years of professional work experience
- Car wash industry experience preferred
- Schneider Electric SoMachine (CODESYS), Unity Pro, EcoStruxure, and Vijeo Designer software programs
- Schneider Electric Altivar series variable frequency drives
- Fluent in AutoCAD Electrical
- Control Panel Design
- UL Experience
- Process-oriented and strong collaborator with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and across various departments
- Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a warehouse environment. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets along with forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse / assembly tools and functions. This role operates primarily indoors with limited to no travel expectation.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, team member must be able to:
- Ability to work and commute in all weather conditions
- Able to move about inside the office to access standard office equipment, etc.
- Able to effectively communicate, listen, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself and exchange information
- Able to walk, bend, twist, turn, stoop, climb steps, reach with hands, use hands to fingers
- Drive between company locations as needed while on job
- Frequently stand and work in a fast-paced environment where they will often be multitasking
- Tolerate vibrating tools and louder than normal work environment at times
- Frequently stand and walk for the majority of each shift
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds
