Building Services Specialist I - Ithaca, NY

Responsible for performing a variety of services in support of the larger Building Services Team including but not limited to; daily vacuuming, mopping, glass cleaning, and other cleaning activities. Transports confidential materials from one location to another; responsible for the collection of shredded materials, recycling, and trash. Seasonally, duties also include snow shoveling.

• Performs a variety of Building Services duties to maintain the Company’s building and grounds:
  • Ensures all customer areas are clean throughout the day including exterior parking spots and walkways.
  • Empties wastebaskets, recycling, and trash containers.
  • Collects all shred containers and organizes for 3rd party destruction.
  • Supports cleanliness and general conditions of common areas including central break room.
  • Attends to urgent cleaning requests as necessary.
  • Collects, cleans, and replaces all glassware/silverware throughout building.
• Informs the Building Services team of any repairs needed.
• May deliver or pick up various items of merchandise as directed; delivers to offices such items as plastic bags, paper towels, toiler tissue, soap, etc.
• Transports people to and from various locations such as garages, offices, and airport.
• Performs other maintenance duties, such as cleaning carpets, setting up conference rooms for meetings, cleaning and rearranging the conference rooms after meetings, performing minor repairs on office equipment, cleaning of all interior glass and wood features, etc
• Operates a variety of cleaning and maintenance equipment including VAC cleaner, floor scrubber, floor polisher, rug shampooer, paper shredder, etc.
• Supports all Building Services and Purchasing team members with general responsibilities.

• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid Driver License.
• Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent teamwork skills and a proactive, can do attitude.
• Professionalism and integrity when interacting with public and team members.
