OVERVIEW
The Director of Strategy, Media Group role is a key member of the Tony Fay PR (TFPR”) team, leading and facilitating media strategy and coverage for TFPR and clients (“Partners”). This role is part of the Media Group and reports directly to the Chief Media Officer, who will provide guidance on priorities, operational support, and day-to-day deliverables.
- Lead and represent TFPR leadership in Partner meetings, develop and execute media strategy, and secure media placements.
- Develop and implement comprehensive PR strategies for philanthropic partners and cause marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and key messaging across all communication channels.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic guidance and ensuring their PR needs are met with high-quality, results-driven approaches.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of nonprofit organizations and their unique PR needs, ensuring strategies support mission-driven goals and resonate with target audiences.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key media outlets and influencers, securing high-impact media placements that elevate client visibility.
- Oversee the creation of compelling content that supports media outreach, including press releases, op-eds, articles, and social media posts.
- Provide strategic counsel and crisis communication plans for clients during sensitive or challenging situations, ensuring effective reputation management.
- Track and share media coverage internally and with Partners.
- Assist with media training for Partners, including preparation, development, and execution of training based on a set curriculum.
- Ensure Partner announcements, press releases, and photos are posted on the TFPR website within 24 hours.
- Produce media materials such as media briefings and reports.
- Support Partner activations and on-site media needs, including handling of reporters and photographers.
- Oversee monthly media reports for Partners, reviewing and editing as necessary using Muck Rack.
- Create internal materials for meetings, including agendas and itineraries.
- Write social media content and oversee digital media strategies with junior staff.
- Manage award submission timelines, collaborate with creative teams, and work to secure recognition for TFPR annually.
- Draft and edit talking points and scripts, and coordinate interviews as needed for Partners and staff.
- Develop and maintain an updated media database and TFPR master contact list organized by type and region.
- Plan and execute partnership media events, including press events and media tours, and coordinate all vendors, including photographers and videographers for events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Must be based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Significant experience in philanthropic PR with at least 3 years in a leadership or director role.
- Ability to secure and nurture relationships with media and secure impactful coverage.
- Experience writing press releases, media advisories, and pitching to local and national media.
- Ability to track and measure coverage impact across traditional and social media.
- Ability to lead meetings, prioritize projects, and work independently or in teams to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with creative and insightful writing abilities.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Office, social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn), and strong organizational skills.

Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
