Operator II (Grade 13), Operator III (Grade 14), and Operator IV (Grade 15)
Tooele City's Water Reclamation Facility is the only operating plant of its kind in the continental U.S., using cutting-edge solar biosolids processing to treat wastewater.
We're looking for a Reclamation Plant Operator to join our team. This position offers stable, hands-on mechanical/environmental work, with established career ladder promotional opportunities. Come build your career with us!
Key duties include (but are not limited to):
- Monitoring control panels and adjust equipment (remotely, by computer, or manually);
- Monitoring storage lakes;
- Operating equipment, cleaning, driving and hauling biosolids trailers;
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical processing equipment; and,
- Supporting the sewer collection system and infrastructure operations as needed.
Work Schedule:
The plant runs 24/7. Operators work a rotating 4-day, 10-hour schedule between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., including one weekend every three weeks:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday
- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Once every 9 weeks (after obtaining certifications and a CDL) you'll serve as the on-call emergency operator receiving premium pay of $25/day 2 hours OT or comp time if called in.
Qualifications:
- Age 18 with a HS diploma or GED (college/technical training is a plus).
- Should have mechanical, computer, and analytical skills.
- Driving record acceptable to Tooele City's risk management and insurability standard.
- Must have, or obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months, following this timeline:
- CDL medical card within 3 months
- Written exam within 6 months
- Full CDL within 12 months
- Tooele City will pay for your training costs to obtain your CDL, but you will be required to sign a Training Reimbursement Agreement Plan which requires that you repay a pro-rated reimbursement of tuition and expenses that were paid on your behalf if you resign within 18 months after attainment.
- Must obtain Wastewater Treatment I Certification before completing the City's orientation period. We're provide training and support to help you prepare for the exam. Certification testing includes math skills such as addition, subtraction, percentages, geometry, basic algebra, and volume/flow calculations.
