What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Receiving Technician position at Tool Testing Lab, Inc.?
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Unloading trucks and deliveries, inspecting, and verifying incoming goods, recording shortages, and rejecting damaged goods
· Assembling containers and crates, packing goods, and preparing shipping instructions and identifying information
· Organizing inventory, maintaining inventory records, and requisitioning and storing shipping supplies.
· Preparing documents like bills of lading, work orders, and shipping orders, and maintaining log sheets of daily moves.
· Collaborating with customer service representatives, logistics technicians, and other involved parties, and engaging with drivers and vendors
· Tracking, tracing, and updating the status of shipments
· Maintains the database of receiving and shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
· Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
· Completes information on damage claims for in-transit damage.
· Occasionally loads trucks using a forklift.
· Verifies quantity and quality of order.
· Verifies items received with purchase order.
· Customer service via email and phone.
· Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
· Performs other clerical duties.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
· Basic understanding of laboratory policies and procedures.
· Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
Education and Experience:
· Minimum high school diploma.
· Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math.
Physical Requirements:
· Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility for eight-hour shifts.
· Reaching, stooping, and kneeling, and bending: Packing and Unpacking boxes
· Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching and climbing.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
· Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
· Using hands and fingers: Operating a computer, keyboard, and telephone, as well as other equipment such as but not limited to pens, box cutters, tape guns, paper machine,
· Close vision: Working with a computer
Work Environment:
· Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
