What are the responsibilities and job description for the 911 Dispatcher position at Toole County Sheriff's Office?
Responsibilities:
- Receive and analyze incoming emergency and non-emergency calls
- Gather relevant information from callers to determine the nature and urgency of the situation
- Dispatch appropriate personnel or resources to the scene
- Monitor and track the status of ongoing incidents
- Maintain accurate records of all calls and dispatch activities
- Provide assistance and support to field personnel as needed
- Coordinate with other agencies or departments as required
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
Experience:
- Previous experience in a dispatching role preferred
- Familiarity with phone etiquette and effective communication techniques
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and medical terminology is a plus
- Proficiency in using GPS systems for accurate location tracking
- Understanding of law enforcement protocols and procedures
- Ability to transcribe information accurately and quickly
- Familiarity with various phone systems and technology used in dispatching operations
- Strong negotiation skills to handle high-pressure situations effectively
