The Job
We are looking for a math tutor to work in-person with middle school students in small groups (1-4 students per group) at a school in the West Bronx. Students need support in core math skills, problem-solving strategies, and foundational numeracy concepts. Our tutoring model emphasizes structured, skill-building instruction to help students improve both mathematically and in their ability to study effectively.
Tutors will work in person on Saturdays from March 8 to June 14, 2025, providing 3-4 hours of instruction per day.

Responsibilities
- Provide engaging, structured math instruction in small-group settings
- Support students in core math concepts, including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, algebra, and problem-solving
- Integrate study skills strategies (e.g., note-taking, breaking down word problems, showing work clearly) into sessions
- Take daily attendance using a personal device (mobile phone) or a school-issued laptop
- Communicate professionally with school staff and Toolkit Tutors leadership
We are looking for tutors who meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (completed, or close to completion showing strong academic performance)
- At least one year of experience teaching or tutoring in a school or educational setting
- Experience working with urban school communities and an understanding of the challenges students face
- Strong content knowledge in mathematics, including number operations, algebraic thinking, and problem-solving strategies
- Punctual, reliable, and committed to student success
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students effectively
- Ability to commute to the school location in the West Bronx
- DOE fingerprint clearance strongly preferred
- Pay Rate of $35 per hour
