Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Doggy Day School Trainer / Canine Care Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care, supervision, and training to the dogs in our facilities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and development of the dogs under our care, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Dog Training:
- Implement training programs tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each dog.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to teach basic obedience commands, socialization skills, and appropriate behaviors.
- Assess and monitor the progress of each dog, adjusting training methods as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
- Supervision and Care:
- Oversee the daily activities and interactions of dogs in the doggy day school and kennel areas.
- Provide food, water, and medication as directed, ensuring all dogs' basic needs are met.
- Monitor dogs for signs of illness, injury, or distress, and take appropriate action as necessary.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in all areas of the facility, including indoor play areas, outdoor exercise areas, and kennel enclosures.
- Perform regular cleaning and disinfection tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Ensure all equipment, toys, and supplies are in good condition and properly stored.
- Customer Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with dog owners, providing updates on their pets' progress and behavior.
- Address any concerns or questions from customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Educate dog owners on training techniques and strategies to promote continued success at home.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with dogs in a professional setting, such as a dog daycare, kennel, or training facility.
- Strong knowledge of dog behavior, training principles, and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both dogs and their owners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and agility to handle dogs of various sizes and energy levels, as well as perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Certification in dog training or related field preferred but not required.
